Current Bank Accounts

I have began accumulating many bank accounts that I use for various reasons (hence why I have so many debit cards). In this post I will detail the current accounts I have open and their purposes. I did not include accounts that are useless or required for a membership with the bank

I have a sanitized and reduced version of my Google Sheet Financial Tracker embedded at the bottom of this page if you’re interested!

Open Accounts

Bank of America

Advanced Plus Checking

Opened: 10/8/2014

Purpose: Old main account. Bill-pay and intermediary for Merril Lynch transfers

This was my “daily driver” checking account until very recently where I decided to try and squeeze some extra interest out of my main checking. I would not recommend this account due to it’s fees/minimums and lack of features

Ally

Online Savings

Opened: 2/11/2019

Purpose: Basic decent interest savings, transfer hub

Ally is pretty commonly used as a transfer hub. Their daily/monthly transfer limits are high, interface is easy to use and decent transfer speeds. They also have decently competitive APY

HMBradley

Opened: 10/29/2020

Purpose: HYSA/Emergency Fund

HMBradley is a neobank that offers up to 3% APY on up to $100k (with hoops). I may create my own post detailing my use of this but for now I use it in combination with their CC for a great place to park some emergency funds

Digital Credit Union (DCU)

Primary Savings

Opened: 12/18/2020

Purpose: HYSA/Emergency Fund

Offers 6.17% APY on up to $1k. I use Astra to transfer out the extra interest. They also offer great loan rates

Discover

Savings

Opened: 10/4/2021

Purpose: SUB

They offered a SUB of $200 with $25k deposit. Already have a CC from them so the account just sits there

Albert

Checking

Opened: 10/7/2021

Purpose: Cash Back

Varo

Savings

Opened: 10/18/2021

Purpose: HYSA/Emergency Fund

Earns 5% APY up to $5k (any amount over makes the whole balance earn nothing) with $1k DD/m

Point

See my writeup on Point here

Premium Checking

Opened: 11/23/2021

Purpose: Cash Back

May make a full post about this. $99/y AF but offers many cash back options. I average ~10% cash back on all of my purchases. They also have a current promo of 1% cash back on your DD when you spend at least $100 in a given month

Enzo Digital

See my writeup on Enzo Here

Checking

Opened: 1/5/2022

Purpose: Cash Back

Offers 10% back on Uber and 2% back on any payment for rent. May make an individual post about this. Will require $1k DD/m for the 2% and is only up to $20/m in cash back

Service Credit Union

Savings

Opened: 2/25/2022

Purpose: HYSA/Emergency Fund & SUB

There was a small SUB and they give 5% APY up to $500

Current

Checking

Opened: 3/7/2022

Purpose: HYSA/Emergency Fund

Recently made free, earns 4% APY up to $6k in three $2k “Pods”

One Finance

Save

Opened: 3/15/2022

Purpose: Main Checking

Earns 1% APY up to $25k. Account functions as a checking account so I do bill-pay from this account. This is my main checking account

Auto-Save

Opened: 3/15/2022

Purpose: HYSA/Emergency Fund

Add DDs made to the Save account can be directed to the Auto-Save up to 10%. Any funds in the Auto-Save earn 3% APY. You can only add $1k/m to this account via the DD 10% save or round ups You cannot directly add to this account. Usefully, transfers from HMBradley count as DD
